The Golden Rule: Clear Sky View
Before anything else, the Starlink Mini needs an unobstructed view of the sky — specifically toward the north (in Australia). Even partial obstructions like tree branches, roof racks, or awning poles can cause dropouts and reduced speeds. The Starlink app has a built-in obstruction checker — use it before committing to a mounting position.

On the Roof of Your Caravan or Camper
The most popular and effective option. A roof mount gets the dish up high, away from obstructions, and keeps it secure while stationary.

What to Avoid

- Driving with the dish deployed — the Mini is not rated for use while moving at speed and can be damaged
Cable Management Tips
- Use a cable entry gland or weatherproof pass-through to route the cable inside cleanly without gaps
- Avoid sharp bends in the cable — the Starlink cable has a minimum bend radius
- If using a roof mount, leave a small drip loop before the cable enters the vehicle to prevent water ingress
